Dear Alice, I suffer from anorexia nervosa and would like to know if there are any support groups on the Internet.
Dear Reader, It's great to hear that you're interested in reaching out for some assistance with your eating disorder. Online support resources can be useful, beneficial, and a part of your recovery and healing process. To help start you off, below is a list of some on- and off-line eating disorder resources. Some of the resources you'll find will give you the opportunity to interact directly or indirectly with others who have eating disorders as well. These resources could help you understand and cope with your eating disorder, and eventually get well. For Columbia students:

Keep in mind that many people who suffer from eating disorders find in-person support very valuable. If you don't feel ready for face-to-face discussions around this issue, support groups online can be very helpful, and can also be used as a resource in tandem with more personal support networks. Hopefully you will find the resources above informative and empowering.
